The team completely transformed the concourse, spectator areas, and changing facilities within the ice arena during this project. Previously installed loose laid rubber matting was causing trip hazards and generally didn’t reflect the look and feel the centre wanted for their flagship community attraction. Owing to the active ice within the rink, background heating wasn’t possible meaning the working temperature was a constant ten degrees. The facility was having to annually replace around 50sq m of the originally installed 12mm loose-laid rubber matting owing to damage and safety concerns, so wanted a solution to have flooring that would last them at least 10 years.
