The Deck Restaurant, Aqua Club, The Headland Hotel, Newquay

This project comprised of a feature floor in a purpose-built restaurant, offering poolside dining at the five-star hotel. The client required a hard-wearing floor that could withstand regular footfall and moving furniture, but also to create a stylish and dynamic atmosphere. The final floor design included a basketweave pattern around the outside of the room, with a round chevron design in the centre of the room, drawing the eye to the central floor-to-ceiling firepit. This design meant a lot of tile cuts for the fitters, to ensure the transition from the basketweave to the chevron was smooth and seamless, and that the central star effect created around the base of the firepit itself was central and symmetrical.
