TTA board director Billy Valler retires

TTA wishes to thank TTA board director and former managing director of W.B. Simpson & Sons Billy Valler for his valuable contributions to the tiling industry as he enters his retirement. His hard work, deep knowledge and longstanding commitment will be sincerely missed.

Since March 2009, Billy volunteered his time and expertise for TTA’s technical committee, playing a key role in authoring many of TTA’s technical documents and lending his expertise as a member of TTA’s Technical Inspection team. Billy joined TTA Board in 2012 and with 14 years under his belt as a director has volunteered significant time to benefit the industry, proactively representing tile installers and raising tiling standards.

Having left college, Billy started working in the family tiling and bathroom business for around 12 years as a stone and tile fixer, before becoming contracts manager, then a shareholder around 22 years ago and finally managing director in 2018. Based in Surrey, his former company W.B.

Simpson & Sons is one of the leading tiling contractors in London and the South East, specialising in the supply and installation of wall and floor tiling. The company has achieved a long history of industry awards and recognition and has close ties to sister company W.B. Simpson & Sons (Midlands), based in Coventry and covering the North of the country and other areas of the nation.

Early in his career, Billy was involved with the National Master Tile Fixers Association (NMTFA), one of four organisations which merged in 1999 to form The Tile Association. He still keeps with pride his NMTFA membership card – No. 001, as the first-ever registered tile fixer member. W.B. Simpson & Sons has been at the forefront of TTA since its formation.

Billy was recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award at TTA Awards 2023. He retires to spend more time looking after his health, completing cycling challenges and enjoying the company of his family.
