Mapei’s range includes various complementary solutions to promote an “optimum” finish in wetrooms and bathrooms, the company says. All products are showcased at Mapei World London City, the Mapei specification team on hand to offer advice.
Contemporary-styled shower systems include Mapei’s Profilpas Glass Profile, designed to accommodate a 2% slope, for flush floor, frontal wall and side wall tile installations. The glass profile is available in a stainless steel and anodised aluminium finish, in 98, 120, 148 and 200cm lengths and right and left formats. End caps for finishing and various silicone seal options are also available. The range also includes profiles, floor expansion joints, skirting boards and pedestal systems, as well as stair nosing and laying accessories.
For rapid, safe waterproofing, the company offers Mapelastic AquaDefense Tanking Kit – a ready to use kit which can receive tiles after four hours. The kit comprises Mapelastic AquaDefense and Mapeband PE 120, which is used to form waterproofing layers before applying tiles to areas in contact with moisture and running water. Meanwhile, recommended adhesive options for wetrooms include Keraflex Maxi S1 adhesive, which is described by the company as a high-performance, deformable cementitious adhesive with no vertical slip, extended open time, excellent workability and low dust technology. The adhesive also reportedly features a very low VOC formulation, with EMICODE: EC1 R Plus certification.
To complete tile installations, the company offers Zero range Ultracolor Plus – with CO2 offset in the entire lifecycle – and Mapesil AC ECO. Ultracolor Plus is an anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying polymer-modified grout which features water-repellent DropEffect and mould-resistant BioBlock. Mapesil AC ECO – manufactured using renewable energy and packed in recycled plastic cartridges – is a solvent-free silicone sealant.
