The Tiling Show– TSJ Reports

Last month, TSJ attended the Tiling Show and TTA Awards, both hosted by TTA at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole. While, naturally, the excitement and glamour of the awards ceremony has attracted much attention (see this month’s TTA Newsletter for a full breakdown of the winners) we also wanted to highlight the Tiling Show as a valuable and enjoyable visit in its own right, and encourage any of our readers who didn’t make it this year to consider attending in 2024.

Unlike some of enormous trade exhibitions overseas, this year’s Tiling Show took place in one large hall at the Hilton Metropole itself. In addition to eliminating any irritating travel from visitors’ overnight accommodation to the venue itself, this location and scope gave the event a much more close-knit, friendly atmosphere, with visitors easily able to walk the entire hall and speak to everyone over the course of the day.

Perhaps more importantly, though, the Tiling Show is one of the only trade shows in Europe specifically aimed at the tiling trade. While Italy and Spain’s hallmark exhibitions focus largely on manufacturers and their buyers, TTA has astutely prioritised the needs of its membership, filling the show floor with the UK’s most important suppliers to the trade.

And by all accounts, this approach was a massive success. Feedback from the show has been almost universally positive, with exhibitors praising both the overall footfall and the quality of conversation. Over the following pages (for those who didn’t manage to attend this year’s show) some of the exhibitors have provided their insights and reflections from the show.
