Wall and floor tiling specialist, BMB Tiling, utilised UltraTile’s external tiling system to transform an outdoor area from drab and dreary to chic and contemporary. The accomplished tilers recently accepted the challenge of bringing life back to an old and tired garden patio at a private residence in the West Midlands.
The challenge
With a 109sqm area to complete in just five weeks, including preparation and the installation of the 600x600mm tiles, the contractor certainly had its work cut out to deliver this project on time.
The solution
To better understand the intricacies of external tiling and to build confidence using different products, Brad Bryant, owner of BMB Tiling, attended a Tilers Community Academy Day, hosted by manufacturer of tiling products, UltraTile.
During this free-of-charge training day, Bryant was guided through each stage of the tiling process before taking part in a practical demonstration of each product.
After attending this extensive training course, BMB Tiling was equipped to complete the 109sqm external tiling project.
To begin, the entire area was dug out to create a suitable base for the 600x600mm porcelain Burlingstone pavers in white.
For a secure and long-lasting finish, the company utilised ProPave Primer to provide an exceptional bond between the mortar and the stone before grouting using ProPave Grout in Storm Grey.
Suitable for use with granite, porcelain and other premium quality natural stone, ProPave Grout utilises ColourShield Technology for a vibrant and long-lasting finish, UltraTile says. The product can reportedly be used in all weathers and be walked on in just 24- 48 hours.
In just 5 weeks, BMB Tiling had transformed this space to create an “outdoor oasis” for the homeowner, the company says. What’s more, since attending the Tilers Community Academy Day, the company has also used UltraTile’s external tiling products on a further project.
