It’s important that appropriate sealing and cleaning regimes are put in place in order to protect and enhance the tiling installation.
The Palace Tilecare range comprises seven products. Each product features a different colour flash to help make it immediately identifiable. Like all Palace products, the company says, this range has been conceived around the core values of trust, support, excellence, quality, service and innovation.
There are two products joining the range this year. The first new product is Palace Grout Haze & Resin Remover, which has a pink flash. This product has been designed to support the growing trend of using porcelain tiles or paving for both interior and exterior spaces around buildings. These can be prone to issues caused by haze and resin residues on the surface of the tile due to their slip ratings and choice of grouts. Grout Haze & Resin Remover features a specialist gel stripping formula, which is designed to remove polymer and resin haze from glazed, textured and porcelain tiles.
The other new product is the Palace Porcelain & Grout Sealer, with a yellow flash. This is a water-based porcelain, natural stone and grout impregnator, designed to enhance the repellency of the tile surface to protect against both oil and water-based stains. It is suitable for both internal and external applications and its formulation makes it especially suitable for modern porcelain tiles, the company says including those installed externally.
Palace All-Purpose Tile Cleaner, which features an orange flash, is suitable for use on all types of tiled surface including marble and calcareous natural stone. The product will reportedly remove fine cement film, limescale and soap scum from tiled surfaces to leave a bright clean finish which resists the further build-up of water-borne stains with regular use.
Palace Heavy Duty Porcelain & Natural Stone Tile Cleaner is a concentrated alkaline solution for removing heavily soiled and grimy deposits from polished or unpolished stone and porcelain tiled surfaces. It is said to penetrate surface pores and lift accumulated dirt, returning the tile to its original clean “as new” appearance. It has a green flash.
Palace Grout Film Remover softens and removes any excess cement film from a tiled surface. This can often be left after grout has been applied. The product will also remove limescale and surface efflorescence, which sometimes forms on the surface of the grout joint in the first few weeks after application. It is not suitable for calcareous tile and stone and is identified by a red flash.
Palace Marble & Stone Impregnating Sealer, with a blue flash is designed to penetrate into porous and semi-porous surfaces to form an oil or water-repellent barrier which allows any damp still in the substrate to evaporate, while restricting any further moisture ingress which can damage the structure and tarnish the surface finish.
In view of the increasing popularity of natural stone finishes, Palace Natural Stone Sealer is an important product in the range. It features a linseed oil-based composition, and can be used on original terracotta, stone and slate to prevent the ingress of moisture, damp and stain-bearing deposits. It features a dark yellow flash.
