CTD brings new trade-focused store concept to Newcastle

The tile specialist, which was acquired by Topps Tiles in the summer of 2024 after filing for administration, officially opened the new store at 1A Airport Industrial Estate, Newcastle upon Tyne, on Thursday 10 September, following the introduction of its new trade-focused store concept in Minworth earlier this year.

Designed to provide a “one-stop traders’ shop”, the Newcastle branch puts the needs of professional tilers and tradespeople at the heart of its layout and product offering.

Newcastle was selected because of the area’s established trade and housebuilder market and its longstanding connection with CTD. The brand has a strong history in the North East and the new location provides an opportunity to reconnect with a market in which CTD has traditionally enjoyed significant recognition among professional customers.

The launch was marked by a dedicated trade morning featuring suppliers exhibiting and providing demonstrations alongside giveaways, food and refreshments.

Sam Bucknall, managing director of CTD, said: “The Newcastle store is another opportunity for us to demonstrate what we want the CTD customer experience to look like – straightforward, trade-focused and built around having the right products available when our customers need them.

“We’ve brought together a significant range of essential products and brands with our largest tile display in-store, so whether someone needs everyday materials for the next job, or is sourcing tiles for a larger project, we want CTD Newcastle to be somewhere they can come and find everything they need.”
