Smart Marketing Works invests in growth

Marketing agency Smart Marketing Works has announced several recent investments in its team.
The agency, which specialises in the tiling and flooring market, is aiming to develop its client offer further in the video and web sectors. Its most recent appointee is digital director Matt Carlin, who joins the company with 15 years’ experience in digital, web design & build and video.

Matt Carlin’s appointment follows that of Catherine Spibey at the end of 2021 as agency account director. Spibey has over 20 years’ experience in senior sales and marketing roles within Johnson Tiles and other major tiling brands.

Catherine expanded her existing team last year by adding a number of roles. Heather Brown, who has been with the agency for two years was promoted to marketing & events manager, with Jack Porter supporting as marketing & events coordinator. To support the copywriting and PR work, Jack Smith, an English Literature graduate of Keele University joined the team as marketing, copywriting and events assistant.

“Despite the challenges of recent years – the pandemic, labour shortages, material shortages, uncertainties around Brexit and more – we are finding that our clients remain very busy, but are keen to explore new ways to reach their customers, hence our increased focus on digital, social media and video,” says CEO Kay Porter, who is also a director of industry body Build UK, CEO of The Tile Association and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers.
