Pantone, an American firm known for its proprietary colour order system used across various industries, has announced its colour of the year, identifying Mocha Mousse as 2025’s most on-trend shade.
According to the company, the Color of the Year (sic) programme “engages the design community and colour enthusiasts in a conversation around colour, highlighting the relationship between colour and culture”.
Describing the colour of the year for 2025, Pantone’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman said: “Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”
There has already been a noticeable uptick in the past twelve months of tiles with warmer, softer shades at exhibitions like Cersaie and Cevisama. Even prior to that, 2023 saw a bevy of travertine tile designs which came in a similarly warm-toned beige from manufacturers on the continent. It’s likely this year’s tile shows will only see Mocha Mousse and adjacent shades become more popular.
