“Five decades of dedication”: Keith Williamson retires from Hampshire Tile Warehouse

Hampshire Tile Warehouse (HTW) bids a “heartfelt farewell” to contract sales manager Keith Williamson, as he retires after an impressive tenure of 50 years.

The company says: “Keith began his journey in August 1974 when he was tasked with assisting the roofing manager in measuring up a job – however, he froze at the top of the ladder and was swiftly moved to the tiling department the following day. By September 1980 he’d moved on to managing the Southampton branch and continued exploring the exciting world of tiles by visiting countless shows, factories, and adhesive manufacturers to expand his knowledge of the constantly evolving technologies and trends.

“More recently, Keith has been managing HTWs contract business with a particular focus on cruise ships. This requires a high level of technical knowledge, and to date, he has supplied over 8000sqm of thin porcelain for various projects.

“Keith has left an indelible mark on the fabric of HTW’s history. His wealth of knowledge, coupled with a contagious zeal, has not only enriched the workplace but also inspired those around him.”

When asked about the highlight of his career, Williamson said: “The main thing is the people. I’m fascinated by tiles and technology but at the end of the day it’s the people that you meet that make it.”

As Williamson transitions into retirement, his absence will be keenly felt, HTW says. His departure marks the end of an era for the company, but also heralds the beginning of a new chapter for Williamson, filled with leisurely pursuits and well-deserved relaxation. Rumour has it that he has already mapped out several rounds of golf for his inaugural week of freedom.
In celebrating Williamson’s remarkable career, the company not only honours a dedicated employee but also pays tribute to a cherished member of their family. HTW concludes: “Here’s to Keith – may his retirement be as vibrant and fulfilling as his career.”
