Wellness and leisure design provided the focus for Mapei at this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week. A lively programme of showroom experiences ran throughout the event, including product launches and presentations on insightful design topics. Two sell-out keynote sessions contributed to visitor numbers in excess of 500, with Mapei set to return to the event for 2027.
Mapei presentations included “Leisure Design – Working in Partnership”, with GT3 Architects, and a Cradle-to-Grave themed session, exploring practical ways to cut carbon in construction, and highlighting the value of EPDs and VOC declarations.
Keynote speakers included Karen Haller FRSA – a leading voice in Colour Psychology – and Jean Hewitt – expert in accessibility and neurodiversity in the built environment. During her presentation, Karen explored how colour can enhance mental health, improve user experience and shape uplifting, nature-connected environments. This was followed by a product launch networking event featuring new colour tones from the Mapei Color range. Meanwhile, bringing decades of experience, from shaping BSI standards to authoring PAS 6463, Jean’s presentation – “Design for the Mind – Neurodiversity and the Built Environment” – explored how thoughtful design can better support every mind.
Product showcases for 2026 included ‘display cubes’ of Mapei Sports Flooring Systems for tennis, pickleball, Formula One and basketball, and Urban Design Systems for car parks, cycle paths, walkways and play areas. Meanwhile, at basement level, Mapei presented its support for architects and designers with specifications, CPD presentations and on-site support.
For the second year, Mapei UK’s mascot, Kera-Quack, took the Mapei brand out into the wider Clerkenwell district, raising spirits and awareness of Mapei World London.
