Kerakoll’s Fugabella Color grout collection is available in 50 colours chosen by Piero Lissoni to complement contemporary interiors.
The coloured grout can be used to either blend with the tiles and create an illusion of an unbroken floor, or to deliberately contrast with them, becoming a decorative feature in its own right.
According to the company, the hybrid resin-cement grout has proved extremely popular since it was launched in September 2019, because of how easy it is to use and clean, and its high performance values, which are said to be very close to the standards set for RG grouts.
The range reportedly features performance levels very close to epoxy-resin grouts, and can be used both internally and externally in domestic, industrial and commercial projects, the company says. This means you can use the same grout for everything rather than having to choose one that fits the on site conditions.
You can also mix the product to the consistency that suits you and the site. The mix is said to be light and easy to work with. It does not slide off the trowel and remains workable without changing consistency in the bucket, so you don’t need to add water which can lead to colour inconsistencies.
The intense colours are due to the pigment used in the grout. They maintain the depth of colour and don’t fade, Kerakoll says, as resin-cement grout is not subject to salt and lime efflorescence.
Fugabella Color is made with natural binders with very low VOC emissions and contains a high percentage of recycled material. The CO2 emissions for the range are less than or equal to 250g/kg depending on the colour chosen.
For those situations where only an RG grout will do, the company offers the Fugalite Bio range, a water-based resin which is reportedly proven to be hypoallergenic in dermatological tests run by the Modena and Regio Emilia University Hospital. The grout performs to extremely high standards, the company says, being UV resistant, stain proof, waterproof and bacteriostatic. It’s available in 24 colours, 12 of which are specifically designed for use with wood-effect tiles.
Fugalite Bio is also said to be better for your health when using it and the environment than traditional epoxy grouts, as it contains no solvents, toxic or hazardous components and has very low VOC emissions. Its CFP is equivalent to 0.50 kg/sqm.
