Kerakoll’s Laminate Vapor Pro waterproofing system uses the company’s Aquastop Fabric to waterproof exposed walls and floors fast and effectively, reportedly protecting substrates from moisture and condensation even in rooms saturated with steam. According to the company, the system allows showers, spas, wet areas, balconies, terraces and even pools to be safely waterproofed and tiled.
To use the system, the company says: “Apply a layer of H40 Gel or H40 Advanced onto the substrate and bed Kerakoll Aquastop Fabric into the adhesive to adhere the membrane, leaving a 5mm spacing gap between all of the membrane joints. Next, cover the joints, edges and corners of the Aquastop Fabric with Kerakoll Aquastop Fix and bed in Kerakoll Aquastop 120 waterproofing tape to ensure watertightness. Aquastop Fix uses nanotechnology to make the joints of the Aquastop Fabric totally waterproof and give it high chemical stability.”
There is said to be no waiting time before installing coverings on top of Aquastop Fix, so tiles can be fixed immediately using H40 Gel or H40 Advanced to create a secure adhesive bond between the tiles and membrane. It’s also safe for foot traffic immediately, the company says, allowing other trades to finish off without having to wait for the adhesive to dry.
Aquastop Fabric membrane is described as a thin, waterproof polyethylene sheet with high expansion/anti‑tear, coated on both sides with polypropylene fabric. It’s suitable as an anti‑cracking waterproofing system/composition for areas under moderate stress and is said to guarantee optimum adherence with adhesives from H40 range.
Every project is unique, and it is important to take into account any particular issues that may be present. Kerakoll advises tilers to get the company’s technical team involved when choosing the products and keep in touch with them for advice should an unforeseen issue occur on site.
