Contemporary fumoir lounge designed by Durstone

For the 61st edition of Casa Decor 2026 in Madrid, the Palace of the Marquis of los Vélez and Count of Niebla has been outfitted with a variety of installations designed to create a “journey” of interior design. Among them is the space featuring Durstone: “The Journey of Smoke,” designed by Impar Design for Impar Grupo. Durstone’s Imagine porcelain collection, in black and white with a glossy finish, structures the space from the flooring to the built-in bench, creating a dynamic geometry that amplifies light and reflection.

Far from playing a merely decorative role, Durstone’s porcelain ceramic structures the project. The glazed Imagine White and Black pieces in a 15x15cm format shape both the flooring and the perimeter bench, creating a continuous system that organises the space. The flooring, with its striking black-and-white geometry, introduces rhythm and depth. Its glazed finish amplifies light and creates reflections that activate perception, while the repetition of the pattern builds an almost architectural reading of the whole.
