AquaLay is more than a panel that holds pipework, says manufacturer PCS. It is an insulated heat-transfer system designed to improve the response, control and efficiency of water-based underfloor heating.

The overlay panel with a core difference
Although traditional screeded and concrete floors with embedded heating pipes have served their purpose, their high thermal mass is increasingly inefficient in today’s more changeable climate. With these traditional systems, the entire floor mass must be heated before warmth reaches the room, making them slow to warm up and slow to cool down. When temperatures change quickly, heat can remain stored in the floor after it is no longer needed.
A better way to heat floors…
The patented design of AquaLay retains the proven heat-transfer qualities of cement-based systems without the same high thermal mass. Its lower-mass construction provides rapid, even heat distribution, faster warm-up, quicker cool-down and a closer response to heating controls, says PCS, improving comfort while reducing unnecessary energy use.
The result is responsive heating. Energy is used when it is needed, not stored in the floor after demand has changed.
Be ready for the future
From 24 March 2027, the Future Homes Standard will require new homes in England to use highly energy-efficient, low-carbon heating, making underfloor heating that operates effectively at lower flow temperatures and limits downward heat loss increasingly important.
