RUBI: “Raising the standards of tiling”

RUBI, a manufacturer of tile cutting and installation tools, launched several products for the cutting and laying of tiles at The Tiling Show 2024.

This year’s Tiling Show, held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, was the launch pad for RUBI to exhibit exciting new developments in tiling technology.

Introducing the Tech Flex Trowel
Partnering with adhesive manufacturer Weber, RUBI has developed a curved rubber trowel, which it describes as a “game-changing” tool, designed to optimise adhesive distribution and enhance ergonomic comfort for tilers. Designed for use with the Flexible adhesives from Weber, the trowel reportedly boasts a 10% lighter weight compared to traditional notched trowels.

Crafted from high-durability materials such as polyurethane, the curved design facilitates adhesive retention and promotes even spreading across surfaces. This means less product is wasted, saving money each time.

Notably, its lightweight construction reduces fatigue during extended use, while its composition is designed to ensure resistance to wear, corrosion, and rust, while also being easy to clean and maintain. The Tech Flex trowel “sets a new standard for efficiency and reliability in tiling,” the company says, “demonstrating RUBI’s commitment to empowering professionals with cutting-edge technology”.

Meeting industry demands with new blades
RUBI’s latest innovation in cutting technology, the Slither blades, were also debuted at The Tiling Show 2024. Said to mark a “significant leap forward” in dry cutting technology for grinder blades, the Slither range is designed to offer the best cutting finish from new.

Engineered with an exclusive J-slot design and diamond metal alloy, these blades are said to offer unparalleled precision and efficiency without the need for grinding or polishing. However, it’s important to note that, due to their design and functionality, they are not recommended for mitre cuts.

Available in both PRO (1.2 mm thickness) and SUPERPRO (1.1 mm) variants, the Slither blades are designed to deliver superior cutting performance and speed on porcelain, natural stone, sintered stone, and other hard materials. With optimised cooling mechanisms and a focus on finer cuts, RUBI says, these blades redefine the standard for excellence in tile cutting.

Additionally, to combat the rising thickness of tiles in interior installations, RUBI has launched the Adder blade. Designed for cutting 20mm thick porcelain tiles, a choice growing in popularity, these SUPERPRO quality blades are suitable for fast cutting with an excellent quality and long lifespan, the company says.

The company concludes: “With these new blades, RUBI sets a new standard in the ceramic tile installation sector with maximum precision cutting. Ceramic and porcelain tiling professionals will benefit from perfect results and unrivalled performance, taking tiling projects to the next level of excellence.”
