Cevisama 2025: What you need to know

Tens of thousands of visitors are eagerly anticipating the return of Cevisama to Feria Valencia at the end of this month for the show’s 41st edition. Recently, we got in touch with Tile of Spain’s marketing and communications executive, Clara Vicedo, to discuss the upcoming tile and bathroom furnishings exhibition.

What are the trends to look out for at this year’s Cevisama?
From dynamic dimensions to sensory, calm textures, abstract and geometric expressions to “out of this world” colours, the trends to look out for this year are versatile and eclectic.

Tile dimensions are becoming more tactile and more adventurous. Three-dimensional tiles are expanding to include more shapes and designs, creating interiors that are all about unique character. From multi-coloured fluting to different shaped tile reliefs, we have seen a significant shift in the dynamism of the dimensions in the latest tile collections, extending far beyond a simple 3D structure, but instead showcasing a wide range of dimensions and styles that will bring structure and striking statements to residential and commercial spaces.

Texture in tiles has developed further than a simple structure in the surface. Thanks to continued developments in manufacturing technologies, tile designs are increasingly presenting more depth in pattern and structure, exuding a calming, sensory effect through a very subtle sense of movement. From beautiful veining in restorative tones to sanded stone, rough wood and brushed concrete effects, tiles are injecting a soothing aesthetic through a stunning palette of neutral yet textured designs.

From mixing and matching different colours of the same tile, to eye-catching geometric designs, homeowners and designers have started to exude even more abstract expression through their surface choices. In some cases, tiled surfaces will become almost kaleidoscopic in appearance, delivering a new elevated level of creativity when it comes to interior design.

A trend for more “out of this world” finishes and colourways has started to make itself known through tile design. Otherworldly iridescent effects and decorative overlays that go beyond simple colour are set to show a significant increase in popularity in the coming year. From metallic, layered hues to shaded variations, this trend can be beautifully represented through wall tiles, offering designers the opportunity to inject a touch of ethereal beauty into schemes.

Is the show doing anything new this year that visitors should be aware of?
The member companies of Tile of Spain are the main exhibitors at Cevisama and every year Tile of Spain organises a range of activities to promote the exhibiting companies and their innovations. In addition to an online catalogue, Tile of Spain will produce exhibitors’ video content which will be available to view on Tile of Spain’s social media profiles (Instagram and Facebook).

On the second day of the fair we will hold an interesting press conference for more than 100 international journalists. In this press conference, the new trends in ceramic surfaces for 2025 will be presented, as well as the XXIII Ceramic Awards for Architecture and Interior Design.

This year, the press campaign “The Secret Ingredient” will also have a relevant role in the conference. New for 2025 is the ‘Hotel Cevisama’ installation, commissioned by Cevisama, which will recreate a hotel space in an area of 800sqm. It will be designed by the prestigious architect Héctor Ruiz Velázquez and will feature ceramics from a range of exhibiting companies.

What’s the biggest priority for ASCER/Tile of Spain at this year’s show?
Our biggest priority is to showcase innovation and to differentiate our products in a competitive market, by presenting cutting-edge designs, sustainable solutions and advanced technologies which align with current industry trends. Building connections with designers, distributors and architects is also high on our agenda.

Are exhibitions still as important for the tiling industry in 2025?
Trade fairs are a valuable promotional tool for our sector, a place where potential customers can touch and see the products first-hand. In addition to their presence at trade fairs, Tile of Spain member companies use other promotional tools throughout the year which they adapt to the channel or type of customer: factory visits, organisation of conferences, website portals etc. Trade fairs are one more tool for the brands. We have found that trade shows are becoming more specialised, so companies must fine-tune and choose carefully the trade fair that best fits their objectives or business strategy.

How will Cevisama 2025 promote sustainability in tiling?
Spanish exhibitors will showcase their innovations at Cevisama, not only in design, but also the technological advances they apply in their manufacturing processes. They will have a lot to say because the Spanish industry is at the forefront of sustainable developments. To give an example, a recent study that analyses the circularity practices concluded that in 2023 the sector gave 810,000 tons of raw materials (the equivalent of 37 Olympic swimming pools) and avoided the emission of 450,000 tons of CO₂ (the CO₂ emissions of 112,500 households). In our member policies, 93% of process waste is recycled, so we are practically at zero waste.
