Whatever your project design, tile-type or budget, BAL says it has the grouting solution for you, with a streamlined portfolio of high-quality products.
“The Heavyweight”: BAL Micromax3 ECO
With all the qualities of BAL Micromax2, the company’s Micromax3 ECO grout reportedly delivers enhanced product performance, improved useability and added eco-benefits.
The grout is available in 36 colours with a range of matching silicone sealants.
With longer-lasting and improved Microban antimicrobial protection providing non-hazardous protection against black mould and mildew, as well as an efflorescence-free formulation and locked-in colour consistency, Micromax3 ECO is designed to provide the “ultimate long-lasting finish” for your tiling project.
Micromax3 ECO is OPC-free and sets in two to three hours for fast-track project completion. The grout is now also suitable for internal and external use, as well as swimming pools, BAL says, and can be used up to 30mm joints widths with no shrinking or cracking.
Improvements were made to the Micromax2 formulation to provide even greater control for fixers – including easier clean-off, even on textured tiles and less haze after initial clean-off.
The grout also boasts a lower dust formulation relative to conventional, OPC-based grouts, BAL says, reducing waste and mess for the fixer, as well as being a safer product to use.
Easier to mix and apply – especially on walls with no slumping – Micromax3 ECO is said to be suitable for all tile types. The development of rapid-hardening chemistry means the water is maintained within the grout, virtually eliminating the risk of water staining even on natural stone.
“The Prize Fighter”: BAL Grout Flex
Grout Flex is described as a highly flexible grout with high strength which comes in five colourways – “packing a punch with a reliable finish”. The grout is offered in narrow or wide joint versions – Grout Flex and Grout Flex Wide Joint – for use from 2-5mm (narrow) to 3-20mm (wide) joints.
Easy to apply and mix up with colour consistency whatever the size of mix, says BAL, the product provides a smooth finish. Grout Flex is available in 5kg and 10kg bags in White, Jasmine, Light Grey, Mid Grey and Dark Grey.
With more than two hours of pot life, the product is designed to give fixers more time to grout up – even in hotter conditions – allowing larger areas to be grouted with one mix. A 24-hour set time also means longer time to wash off. Suitable for internal or external use, BAL says Grout Flex is also suitable for use in swimming pools and power showers.
“For total hygiene protection”: BAL Absolute Grout
Absolute Grout is a new-generation, three-part epoxy grout system – designed for “ultimate waterproof protection” in showers, wetrooms and bathrooms.
The product is said to provide absolute protection in hygienic and wet areas and an “absolutely perfect” finish. The three-part technology is said to ensure that colour is locked within the filler, providing long-lasting colour tones.
As a three-part system, it is even easier to mix and easier to apply with an epoxy grout float, says BAL. Improved rheology reportedly ensures the grout holds well in the joints, particularly on walls.
Absolute Grout cleans off with a good quality sponge, with emulsifying pads usually not required (but can be used if preferred on heavily textured, anti-slip tiles).
It can be cleaned off between 15 minutes and 60 minutes after application.
Providing what BAL describes as a hygienic, durable and impervious finish, it’s suitable for commercial showers, bathrooms, kitchens, swimming/hydro therapy pools, food preparation areas, hospitals/industrial plants, as well as providing long-lasting, waterproof protection for domestic wet rooms and showers.
“The Outdoor Warrior”: BAL Terrace Grout
Part of the BAL’s external tiling range of fixing products, BAL Terrace Grout is designed to withstand the demands of outdoor areas including water and freeze/thaw damage.
Highly polymer-modified, it’s described as a high-performance cement-based grout – suitable for natural stone or porcelain pavers or tiles in external areas. Coming in four colours – Beige, Dark Grey, Light Grey and Charcoal – it offers “exceptional” bond strength and flexibility and can be used for joint widths up to 15mm, says BAL.
The grout is also said to provide a super smooth, hard-wearing surface and is easy to mix quickly on-site with only water.
A 45-minute pot life ensures time to mix and grout tiles or paved patios, terraces and paths. Available in 10kg bags, coverage is approximately 0.5kg/sqm at 5mm joint widths. It cures in 24 hours.
