BAL, a manufacturer of full tiling solutions, has launched a Grout-Effect Sealant for what the company describes as seamless transitions.
BAL Micromax Grout-Effect Sealant is formulated with technology which provides a textured, matt-finish that blends with grout, the company says, ensuring “no more shiny, stand-out high gloss sealant!”
Colour-matched to BAL Micromax3 ECO Grouts, it reportedly provides a uniform finish in colour and texture, across all joints; whether they are grouted tile joints, sealed perimeter joints, movement joints or internal corners.
The product is said to be waterproof with excellent adhesion, and is suitable for sealing between tiles and other materials including sanitary, acrylic, fibreglass, glass, glazed tiles, porcelain and painted surfaces in dry and wet interior and exterior environments.
It can be used in high-traffic areas and is also suitable for external tiling installations for example when sealing between 20cm porcelain tiles and drain grates.
The product is also formulated with Microban antimicrobial protection against black mould – which provides protection for hygiene areas when subject to the usual cleaning regimes.
Alex Underwood, head of marketing at BAL, said: “When it comes to soft movement joints and perimeter joints, customers have only had the sealant option of traditional silicone sealant products that all provide a very shiny and glossy finish, which stands out against the grout joints.
“Our new technology will allow tiling projects to have a sealant solution that meets British Standards for movement and perimeter joints and looks like the adjoining grout joint for a seamless effect across the tiled area.
“The grout-effect sealant can be used on all floors and walls and is a unique technology to provide a seamless matt finish that is colour matched to our Micromax3 ECO Grout range.”
BAL Micromax Grout-Effect Sealant will be available from BAL stockists, with a total of 25 contrasting or complementary colour tones, providing a “seamless” colour-matched grout and sealant solution for every tile colour or type.
