HAVING returned for another year, the Surface Design Show opened its doors at the Business Design Centre in London in February, showcasing a huge range of surface solutions from 180 exhibitors.
With a striking array of products on display, Tile of Spain showcased the newest collections from a selection of its manufacturers, offering visitors the opportunity to see the very latest in Spanish tile innovation, design and technology. Spain is among the world’s largest exporters of ceramic tiles, with over three quarters of its production destined for international markets – where the UK is placed as the third largest export destination at $102.9 million, following the US and France.
With incredible developments in manufacturing processes, Tile of Spain displayed some of the most interesting and exciting tile designs to date. From bold and vibrant to earthy and understated, the stand’s exquisite tile collections offered endless inspiration for every surface design vision, where visitors explored new textures, colours and creative ideas.
A true celebration of the versatile, durable and authentic nature of Spanish tiles, the collections on display showcased the rich qualities and expansive creative potential that define Spanish ceramic craftsmanship. Designers, specifiers and visitors to the show explored the array of products through live mood boards and eye-catching displays, discovering the design opportunities for residential and commercial projects alike.
From patterned tiles to outdoor and large format, the stand showcased a rich spectrum of design possibilities from Spanish manufacturers including ADEX, Apavisa Porcelánico, Arcana Cerámica, Cerámica Ribesalbes, Cerámicas Aparici, Cevica, Cristacer, Dune Cerámica, Equipe Cerámicas, Gayafores, Greco Gres, Museum Surfaces, Oset, Porcelánicos HDC, Realonda, Undefasa and Vives Azulejos y Gres.
Earthy colours remain popular for 2026, with many of Tile of Spain’s manufacturers displaying an array of new products in these rich shades. Cevica’s new Adobe tiles offer a classic square format in a range of striking tones including terracotta inspired Terra and Naranja Brillo, to the mossy Adobe Verde Brillo and soft Crema. The new Croma collection from Cerámica Ribesalbes was also on the stand for visitors to explore with a huge choice of 32 colours to choose from across the colour wheel.
It’s clear that fluting continues to be a popular tile trend for bathrooms, kitchens and living spaces – and Dune Cerámica’s IMA range is a beautiful example of this classic design. Capturing the light with ease, the collection pairs perfectly with the brand’s terrazzo-inspired Fragmenta range for an eye-catching interior.
Neutral, stone-effect tiles are enduring products that suit both traditional and contemporary spaces – and this year’s show included a range of striking examples from small to large format. Cristacer’s Harden range offers two neutral, sophisticated shades to suit a wide range of environments, while Arcana Cerámica’s Cupola mosaics are an easy and flexible way to add detail to walls and floors.
Representing 125 ceramic tile manufacturers across Spain, Tile of Spain promotes the incredible quality and values worldwide of the Spanish tile industry. Versatile, durable and authentic, Spanish tiles offer unique characteristics and unlimited aesthetic possibilities whilst acting as a global benchmark for their high degree of innovation.
The show was busy throughout and Tile of Spain received a number of enquiries for an array of different projects – from retail premises and office developments to small house projects. Amongst the ranges on show, particularly popular were the large format porcelain tile collections in grey, sand and chocolate brown, small format wall tiles in shades of green and ocean blue, and texture and relief tiles for walls – particularly those with subtle ridges.
