Modern wood-effect tiles have come a long way since the advent of inkjet printing and continue to be extremely popular, Kerakoll says.
The trick to making the floor look just like real wood flooring is to choose the grout carefully so that the colour matches, does not fade and will not become discoloured, and a resin-based grout is perfect for the task.
Twelve of the 24 colours in Kerakoll’s Fugalite Bio range have been specifically designed to match the most popular types of hardwood flooring, and hence wood-effect tiles. This makes it child’s play, the company says, to pick a shade that tones with the colour of the wood-effect glaze and minimises the disruption caused by the grout lines.
Safe to work with, the product is a water-based resin grout that has been tested and proven to be hypo-allergenic. Bacteriostatic, stain proof, waterproof and non-toxic, the product is certified GEV-Emicode EC1-Plus with very low VOC emissions and reduced solvent content. All of this, the company says, means the colours will remain true in the long run without fading or discolouring, preserving the look of an authentic wood floor.
