WTC continues to expand

Westerhope Tile Centre was founded in 2005, based in Newcastle. After several years of growth, the company opened a second store in Sunderland in 2012, as well as what it describes as a state-of-the-art architectural and design showroom in Killingworth. The company says its team is passionate and excels at customer service, having become known for this throughout the sector.

Westerhope supplies both private and trade customers and offers a range of tiles aimed to suit all tastes, whether it be wall or floor; ceramic, porcelain or natural stone; internal or external, “we will be happy to help,” the company says.

The company’s architectural arm (WTC Contracts) has undertaken projects for Sandman Hotels, The Apartment Group and the Cairns Group along with many others. It provides a bespoke design service and the company’s in-house design consultant has completed what are described as the most extravagant customer projects, regardless of size or budget. Addressing evolving trends and fashions, the retailer aims to supply the most up to date products along with the traditional.
Westerhope established its online presence six years ago, the company says, and has expanded its business through this channel in the intervening time. It now operates two websites: one for retail customers and one for trade, as well as promoting through social media channels including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Naturally, the company maintains a physical presence, distributing to 50 bathroom shops in the UK along with 30 kitchen shops. In fact, in addition to tiles for walls and floor, the retailer also stocks and distributes kitchen worktops, including the Grespania Coverlam Top.

Westerhope’s tile stock includes products from IntCeram, Strata Natural Stone, Verona, TileRanges, Ca’Pietra and The Branded Tile Company in collaboration with the V&A. It also supplies special order tiles from Bellacasa, Keope, Natucer and Saloni, among other brands. In line with the company’s goal of supplying everything the tiler needs, founder Leo Brown says, Westerhope also supplies tile cutters and tools, as well as adhesives, backerboards and underfloor heating products. Additionally, the company has addressed recent trends for outdoor living, and now supplies outdoor 20mm porcelain tiles from Grespania, Keope and Al Fresco.
