Trustworthy training at Tile Doctor

Tile Doctor is a UK-based tile, stone and grout maintenance company which has been running training courses since 2007. Since that time, the company has expanded the course content to meet increasing demand for the service and now addresses various problems relating to tile, stone and grout. The company reportedly has thousands of five-star reviews and a Trustpilot rating of 4.7.

The company has used this course to build a team of over 50 dedicated tile, stone and grout maintenance professionals (known as “Tile Doctors”) who take on around 2000 jobs a year in the UK. One of the advantages of this, Tile Doctor says, is that the team can provide constant feedback on the problems they face, which can then be integrated into the training.

Topics covered in the course include tile and stone cleaning, including advanced methods, safe sealer removal, stain removal, dealing with efflorescence and low moisture cleaning, as well as grouting solutions, which includes grout cleaning, grout colouring, haze removal and grout sealing.

The course also features sealing training, with guidance on choosing the right sealer, damp testing for seal, methods of application and water testing. The stone maintenance section addresses surface renovation, polishing with burnishing pads, worktop polishing and lippage removal.

Training is usually delivered across two days, with accommodation provided in a nearby hotel and syllabus chosen to fit the needs of the attendees. All courses are hands-on with real floors and tiled walls giving each trainee the benefit of actual experience.

The company has developed a training centre near Lancaster which features different types of flooring and wall tiles common in the UK today. Fireplaces, stone worktops, a shower cubicle, and a bathtub have been installed to make the training environment as realistic as possible.

The course can help contractors expand their revenue stream by adding renovation and restoration to the list of services they offer. “This makes a lot of sense as finding new clients is a slow and expensive business so far better to maximise income from your existing client base by offering them something new,” the company says.

It continues: “For tilers it’s possible customers have already been asking about some of these topics already and having not had the experience they were referred to another business when they could have completed the work themselves.”

For those who wish to move into tile, stone and grout maintenance full time, Tile Doctor offers what’s described as a low-cost, tried and tested business model, designed to provide a constant stream of customers in the local area, together with full support and discounted products. The company also hosts a private Facebook group where members discuss problems, get advice and network.

Backing this up is Tile Doctor’s product range, which it says has been carefully refined to provide solutions to common problems faced by tile and stone professionals. The range includes gel-based products suitable for cleaning wall tiles, situations which require more control and for areas where it’s important to keep moisture levels to a minimum.
