THE Bear Pub recently underwent a major refurbishment designed to refresh its customer-facing areas and essential facilities. Tayman Tiling was chosen to deliver the project, bringing its expertise and trusted UltraTile products to ensure a flawless finish across a 320sq m area, says UltraTile.
Design and materials
The company adds: ‘Over the course of two weeks, Tayman Tiling transformed the ladies’ and gents’ toilets with a striking mix of onyx and black 1200 x 600mm tiles and mosaics, while the front-of-house was elevated with stylish brick slips that add character and texture. The combination of materials not only modernised the interiors but also created a striking design throughout the venue.’
Technical excellence
To achieve the high-performance finish required in a busy hospitality environment, Tayman Tiling relied on UltraTile solutions. ProFlex SPES in white provided the strength and flexibility needed, as well as non-slip properties for safety in high-traffic areas, says the company.
It adds: ‘ProFlex SPES is a standard set flexible tile adhesive available in white and grey. ProFlex SPES is an S1 classified adhesive in accordance with EN 12004 and boasts a high level of deformation for greater tolerance to movement. The S1 properties of ProFlex SPES make it an ideal choice for timber and underfloor heating systems.
‘Meanwhile, ProGrout Flexible in Grey and Charcoal ensured consistent, durable grout lines that enhanced the bold tile choices without compromising on functionality.’
Available in 14 tones to suit all designs and tastes, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for use with all tile types and can be washed down easily with minimal effort, says UltraTile. Designed for areas where movement and vibration are likely, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for joint widths up to 20mm, is mould resistant, and will set in 12 hours.
Furthermore, UltraTile says its ProGrout Flexible has been developed using ColourShield Technology – a process which involves the addition of a specialist additive for lasting colour protection.
Challenges and solutions
The project posed the challenge of balancing design impact with practicality, especially in areas that demand long-lasting slip resistance and resilience against heavy daily use. Thanks to UltraTile’s reliable products, Tayman Tiling successfully delivered a finish that was stylish and robust, perfectly suited to The Bear Pub’s requirements, says the company.
