Virtual event celebrate ToS award winners

May 2021

Tile of Spain has celebrated the winners of the 19th edition of the Tile of Spain awards at the virtual Cevisama On! Event on 25th and 26th May.  The awards ceremony was held for the first time at ASCER's headquarters.

A video summary of the ceremony and the results was broadcast as part of Cevisama On.

The Tile of Spain Awards seek to recognise the best architecture and interior design projects utilising ceramics in Spain and around the world.  Winners are chosen from three main categories: Architecture, Interior Design, and Final Degree Project, with a total cash award of €39,000.  Each year ASCER also highlights the work of the national and international media outlets that have best contributed to the promotion of the values of Tile of Spain.  This year the press awards went to Dezeen, in the international category, and Diariodesign in the national category.

The Architecture Winner was Casa Ter by Mesura which impressed with the versatile use given to one single material in positions and functions of all kinds. The reinterpretation of a traditional material in a home that revitalised the landscape and its surroundings was also praised.

The Interior Design Award went to Atlantis Gastrobar by Arantxa Manrique.  Here

ceramic materials were used as a star feature of the whole project.  The judges praised the refreshing, timeless appeal of the setting.

The Final Degree Project Award went to “A proposal for a centre of unaccompanied under-aged immigrants” by Andrea Puebla Yubero, from CEU San Pablo Madrid.
