Calling all UK tiling tool manufacturers and suppliers!
TSJ has teamed up with well-known TTA tiler Gary Walsh, to run a series of independent tests on professional hand and power tools. These tool tests will be 100% independent and impartial: Gary’s brief is to provide a clear, honest, and no-holds-barred reviews having put the selected tools through their paces in real-life situations.
To ensure that all tilers can totally trust Gary’s tool tests, manufacturers and suppliers will not be charged for getting their tools tested. They will just have to provide the tools, free-of-charge, on a non-return basis. Gary’s brief is to deliver a detailed, honest, personal appraisal … and these will be run verbatim. Suppliers will not be able to vet or edit the tests prior to publication. Note, TSJ will not be running comparison tests. These reviews will concentrate on one tool at a time.
So if you have 100% faith in your tool, which can be a new product, an upgrade to an existing line, or a tried-and-tested veteran; please contact TSJ’s Editor, Joe Simpson, via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org putting Tool Test in the subject line.
Joe will then draw up a schedule of tests for the coming months. All the tools must be intended for cutting, fixing, or handling ceramic and porcelain tiles. The tests will span wet saws, manual tile cutters, work benches and tables, drills and hole cutters, paddle mixers, multi-tools, angle grinders, laser levels, trowels, nippers, files, tile lifting systems (including suction cups/handles, and carrying cradles), tile levelling systems, and any other relevant tools. Reviews will also include workwear - including knee pads, and work boots; plus cleaning/finishing systems, such as washboys, scrubbers, and silicone applicators.
Tool suppliers: we look forward to hearing from you.
