The ultimate adhesive for natural stone tiles

When tiling natural stone it is important to pick the right adhesive for the stone as for example granite and limestone have very different properties.

In general it is best to use a modern, polymer-modified adhesive such as Tilemaster Adhesives’ Setaflex range which are suitable for use with most types of natural stone.  Grey adhesives can show through light coloured limestone and marble, so it is advisable to choose the white version.

Certain porous stones and quartz are more likely to absorb water and for these Tilemaster Adhesives recommend Rapid Setaflex.

Its low water content, rapid setting time and the fact that it is polymer modified all help to avoid both curling and staining which are the two main issues with these types of stone.  However, Tilemaster Adhesives recommends testing before use with very sensitive stones.  Where there is no time pressure, and the stone is less porous, Setaflex Standard Set or Semi-Rapid are both good choices especially if the laying pattern is intricate and/or the tiles are very large, as the longer pot life gives more time to adjust.

The tiles should be grouted with Tilemaster Grout 3000, a flexible, fast setting wall and floor grout which can be used for joints between 1mm and 20mm and will not scratch softer polished stones, such as some marbles.
