Palace Chemicals is adding a new line to its extensive tiling range, which includes a wide portfolio of products for all tiling applications, the company says.
A consistent programme of investment and innovation has led to Palace Chemicals establishing what it describes as an enviable and award-winning reputation as a reliable and valued trading partner with some of the biggest names in the tiling market. Recent investment has included the installation of a fourth production line at the company’s Speke factory, further enhancing its capacity and its flexibility.
The company’s latest product introduction is GEL–TEC – a standard setting, flexible and fibre-reinforced cement-based tile adhesive, available in white. This product reportedly provides a high bond strength and instant grab, which is essential when fixing ceramic, marble, natural stone, mosaic, porcelain and large format tiles to walls and floors either internally or externally.
GEL–TEC is designed to provide enhanced performance, utilising thixotropic properties which have the benefit of increasing working time and S1 deformation. This makes it more straightforward to reposition tiles during the bonding process, says Palace, contributing to the accuracy and quality of the finished installation.
“This is the type of adhesive which today’s tiling market is looking for,” explains Palace commercial director Steve Ball. “Early signs are that it will be very well-received by the market, in part because it is very easy to mix and work with. Tile fixers will find it is easy to apply and it has a smooth creamy texture which, according to our research, fixers really like. The fact that it is non-slip and offers instant grab makes it ideal for fixing all types of tiles for both wall and floor installations. Coverage is also excellent.”
The adhesive also reportedly contains up to 33% recycled material, which is important for the increasing number of projects where sustainability is a major concern.
It will fix tiles on to a range of suitably prepared substrates, including tile backer boards and sub-floor heating systems, as well as bonding to impermeable surfaces such as existing tiles and power-floated concrete (once prepared correctly). With its enhanced performance, including a longer working and open time, as well as S1 deformation and thixotropic properties, Palace says, it is easier to use on all types of tile application, including those which are frequently wet or even submerged, and is ready to grout in 24 hours.
It also conforms to EN 12004 Type C2TE-S1.
With investment and innovative new product introductions, the company says, Palace’s approach to its market shows how it cares for its customers’ needs. This has recently been vindicated by several award wins for the company.
Firstly, the company won Excellence in Marketing at this year’s TTA Awards. This was in recognition of the company’s brand refresh, which it has now rolled out across its product packaging, literature, advertising, website and social media channels. The new look is said to confidently and concisely echo the company’s strong, “durable and leading” position in the tiling market.
Palace was also a finalist in the Best Environmental Initiative category at the Awards. This was in recognition of its work on reducing the environmental impact of its production processes, making its energy usage more sustainable by the installation of solar panels and introducing new packaging made with recycled materials.
This work on sustainability has also been recognised in a further award win for Palace, who came away from the prestigious annual DIY Week Awards, having won the Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award, as well as getting a Highly Commended in the Retailer Support & Marketing Initiative category of the same event.
The company concludes: “These industry accolades should demonstrate to any tile fixer that you are in good hands if you use products from Palace Chemicals.”
