The Evoluta range from Piemme selected for ADI Design Index 2021

The Evoluta tile range, developed by Ceramiche Piemme using Synchro Digit printing technology, has been selected by the Association for Industrial Design for ADI Design Index 2021.

In addition, the range will compete for the next Compasso d’Oro award.

“This is a truly prestigious achievement for us, especially after such a profound and challenging period of post-pandemic transformation,” says Simone Bartolini, General Manager,  Ceramiche Piemme.  “It is, above all, an acknowledgement of the commitment by our technicians and all those who strive day after day to promote innovation in the ceramic field.  We have in fact paved a new way from both a technological and an aesthetic point of view with Evoluta and the new Synchro Digit technology”.

The new production process basically uses two digital application technologies in sequence: the textured surface of the tiles (relief veins, and all possible 3D and tactile effects) is no longer created at the pressing stage, with the related repetition constraints, but is digitally printed, in perfect synchrony with the decoration (marble, stone, wood effect, etc.).

Special software manages the application of relief glazes with unlimited variables in synchrony with glazes dedicated to the desired graphic effects.

Adi Design Index indeed rewards designers, products or services for the degree of innovation in applied research.  There is also a strong connection to sustainability in a 2021 edition characterised by three words: People, Planet, Prosperity.

Since 1956, ADI has been bringing together designers, companies, researchers, teachers, critics and journalists around the themes of design: project, consumption, recycling and training. It is a leading player in the development of industrial design as a cultural and economic phenomenon. Since 1958, it has managed the Compasso d’Oro Award: the oldest award in Europe in the design sector.
