Profilpas Cerfix Projoint profiles, by Mapei, have been used to complete a tile installation at Fordthorne’s new Omoda showroom in Cardiff. The project, which was completed by A & L Tiling, spanned the contemporary-styled car showroom and featured the GMS – Omoda Corporate Showroom tiles by Minoli in both Terrazzo White & Grey. The Profilpas profile was reportedly chosen for its sleek design and ability to blend seamlessly with the tile finish and Mapei Ultracolor Plus grout.
A family-owned enterprise, Fordthorne is a leading franchised car dealer in South Wales, with roots in the automotive industry dating back to 1922.
The new showroom area spans over 420sqm and includes approx. 80m of Profilpas Cerfix Projoint DIL NTA movement joints. An adhesive-applied expansion joint, Projoint has what’s described as an exceptionally durable aluminium structure with a vulcanised EPDM rubber inner section.
Perforated anchoring fixing legs promote a perfect grip between the screed, profile and tiles and the joint has a compression and expansion capability with a range of +2 to -2 mm. The joints are sandable and designed to withstand heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. They are offered in heights from 3-20mm and the EPDM inner section is available in various colours. The installation was finished with Mapei Ultracolor Plus anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying polymer-modified grout, which features water-repellent DropEffect and mould-resistant Bioblock technology. Ultracolor Plus is part of Mapei’s Zero Line and also benefits from an EMICODE: EC1 EC1 Plus formulation.
