MAPEI’s tile finishing series includes grouts and sealants for all types of tiles – from rustic stone mosaics to large format porcelain – colour-matched for a flawless finish, says Mapei. The products form part of Mapei’s complete installation systems and include formulations from Mapei’s Zero Line, with CO2 fully offset in the entire life cycle.
Says the company: ‘Offered in a spectrum of 40 shades, Mapei’s Ultracolor Plus was the first product to join the Zero Line of carbon neutral products available in the UK. A cementitious grout that offers a raft of features, Ultracolor Plus is anti-efflorescence, quick-setting and drying and can be used for grouting joints up to 20mm in width. Water-repellent DropEffect and mould-resistant BioBlock make it suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms and other wet areas, and anti-efflorescence properties ensure a uniform finish.’
Mapesil AC Zero – a pure, mould-resistant acetic silicone sealant – also features in the Zero Line and is packaged in recycled plastic cartridges. Adds Mapei: ‘Offered in 40 shades for colour matching, the paste formulation is easy to apply vertically and horizontally and creates flexible, waterproof seals between glass, ceramic and inox metal joints. Mapesil AC Zero is resistant to water and gases, high temperatures and it also features BioBlock technology which accommodates movement of up to 25%.’
For a seamless natural look, Mapei’s range also includes Mapesil Tile Matt and Mapesil Stone Matt. Combining the performance benefits of a traditional silicone with a more natural, non-glossy/synthetic finish, the sealants are said to co-ordinate with Mapei coloured grouts and Mapesil Stone Matt is also available in three textured-effect colours. Resistance to surface mould and algae is described to make the sealants ideal for application in damp environments and a highly viscous paste-like consistency promotes an easy installation and a clean, smooth finish.
‘Ultracolor Plus and all three sealants are very low VOC EMICODE: EC1 Plus certified for a safe application,’ says the company.
