PALACE Chemicals says it takes seriously its role of helping to lead the tile adhesives market, a position it attributes to its longstanding industry presence.
With a history going back to 1978, and several senior directors who can trace their involvement with the business back to the earliest days, the company today has more than 300 product lines, says Palace Chemicals. Last year the company supplied over eight million items into the market.
This year it has launched its new GEL-TEC product which contains up to 33% of recycled material, making it ideal for the increasing number of projects where sustainability is a major concern. The product is said by the company to provide a high bond strength and instant grab, essential for fixing ceramic, marble, natural stone, mosaic, porcelain and large format tiles to walls and floors internally or externally.
Palace has also relaunched its popular tile aftercare range this year. This comprises seven products, which are available in new packaging and cover all the key requirements when it comes to aftercare, says the company. It adds: ‘Like all Palace products, the range has been conceived around the company’s core values of trust, support, excellence, quality, service and innovation.’
Two products in the range are new, the first of which is PALACE GROUT HAZE & RESIN REMOVER. This has been developed to support the growing trend for installing porcelain tiles or paving. These can be prone to issues caused by haze and resin residues on the surface of the tile, says Palace Chemicals.
The other new product is the PALACE PORELAIN & GROUT SEALER. This is a water-based porcelain, natural stone and grout impregnator, designed to enhance the repellence of the tile surface to protect against oil and water-based stains. It’s described by the company to be suitable for internal and external applications, and its formulation make it suitable for modern porcelain tiles, including those installed externally.
The company is backing up its ambitious growth plans with new investment in production and warehousing capacity with significant expansion of its facilities in Liverpool.
In addition to its own productive capacity and efficiency, Palace is also keen to demonstrate its commitment to training for its customers, its staff and the wider tiling sector, says the company. It has taken the initiative to launch its own training facility – the Palace Skills Hub – to help at a time when the established routes to training are becoming more difficult to access. It has developed its own training programmes and established dedicated facilities at its Liverpool site to provide comprehensive training for the tiling sector.
These developments are implemented without losing sight of Palace’s core aim, which is to operate as sustainably as possible, says the company. It therefore constantly looks to lower the carbon footprint of the business and move away from cement as a core ingredient of its tiling products in any areas possible. Other initiatives include offering Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) on a growing number of products, ensuring a growing proportion of its packaging is made from Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material, as well as the installation of renewable electricity generation producing much of its manufacturing power supply and ongoing work on its carbon reduction programme.
Palace Chemicals’ approach to its market has been vindicated by a number of award wins this year. It won Excellence in Marketing at this year’s TTA Awards.
This recognition follows a bold brand refresh, which it has implemented across its product packaging, point-of-sale material, literature, advertising, website, and social media over the past two years, says Palace Chemicals.
It was also a finalist in the Best Environmental Initiative category at this year’s Awards, celebrating its work on reducing the environmental impact of its production processes. This work on sustainability was also recognised at the annual DIY Week Awards, where Palace won the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category, further cementing its reputation as a forward-thinking, environmentally responsible manufacturer, says the company. It adds: ‘Palace’s winning streak continued at this prestigious event, as it also won a Highly Commended Award in the Retailer Support & Marketing Initiative category, reflecting the strength of its partner support, communications strategy, and market responsiveness. Furthermore, it has been shortlisted in the current BASA Showcase and the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards.’
Says the company: ‘Through consistent investment and innovation, Palace Chemicals continues to position itself as a one-stop solution provider for professionals in the markets it serves. These accolades reinforce the company’s reputation as a trusted and forward-looking partner across the construction sector.’
