Kerakoll’s streamlined ranges of adhesives and grouts may seem small compared to many of their competitors, but the company says this simplification is a result of the R&D team going back to the drawing board to “reinvent” the way that adhesives and grout are formulated. This has reportedly allowed them to come up with new types of adhesive and grout that perform on all substrates, with all tile types and situations, making it easier to specify the correct products.
The H40 range of gel-adhesives comprises four products, which between them can be used in residential or heavy-duty commercial settings, internally or externally in areas subject to significant temperature changes and in constant exposure to water. They are also suitable for use with large format tiles.
H40 Ultimate is a rapid-setting powder form gel-adhesive with genuine S2 deformability. According to the manufacturer, this product combines excellent workability with a high degree of flexibility and deformation, ensuring the utmost reliability even on difficult to tile substrates such as wood and metal.
H40 Gel is a standard-setting powder form gel-adhesive, and H40 Advanced is a rapid-setting powder form gel-adhesive which offers long working times and accelerated adhesion.
H40 Extreme, a hybrid gel-adhesive completes the range. Kerakoll says this product combines extreme fluidity – it is five times less viscous than a traditional polyurethane adhesive – with extreme flexibility, as it is ten times more deformable than generic S2 adhesives.
The Setaflex range of flexible adhesives had a change of branding in June to become Kerakoll. This range is composed of standard setting, semi-rapid setting and rapid-setting products all of which can be used both inside and out. And the company has just launched Setafix Basic and Setafix Fast to complete the offering.
To finish the installation, Kerakoll offers Fugabella Color and Fugalite Color, both available in 50 different shades designed for contemporary interiors.
Fugabella Color has performance levels very close to epoxy-resin grouts, the manufacturer says, and can be used both internally and externally in domestic, industrial and commercial projects, meaning that you can use the same grout for everything rather than having to choose one that fits the on-site conditions. The range is formulated to have less environmental and health impact than traditional cement or epoxy-resin grouts, and a very low VOC content.
Fugalite Color is a waterproof resin designed to combine the performance of epoxy grout with unparalleled ease of use. Under testing this liquid ceramic grout has reportedly been shown to outperform other RG grouts in its class, forming an unbroken surface with the tiles and offering high chemical and mechanical resistance, for long-lasting protection against water, stains, mould and bacteria, and UV rays.
Its dense, non-absorbent surface resists abrasion and chemical attack, making it suitable for areas exposed to heavy use, damp conditions or regular cleaning. It can be used in pools with little or no deterioration after simulated exposure equal to 20 years to chlorine, UV radiation and mechanical cleaning.
