Laying tiles over underfloor heating need not be complicated if you use Kerakoll’s systems for both electrical and water-based installations, the company says. The products are said to be easy to work with and kind to the health of the installer.
Once the carrier board and pipework are installed to the manufacturer’s instructions, the boards should be primed with Prime+ Grip, and then Levelflex Gel used to level and smooth the floor before beginning installation. This highly flexible self-levelling compound can easily cope with the demands associated with underfloor heating, Kerakoll says.
Once the substrate is dry, you can fix the tiles. For this we recommend using Kerakoll’s Gel-Adhesives: pick H40 Gel for standard-set, and H40 Advanced or H40 Ultimate if you want a rapid-setting adhesive.
All three of these formulations (standard setting H40 Gel, rapid setting H40 Advanced and S2 H40 Ultimate) can be used with any type of tile on any substrate due to the inclusion of new polymers to give them a high shear strength. The Gel-Adhesives are perfect for use with underfloor heating as they contain additives to increase flexibility.
Finish the installation with Fugabella Color. Safe and easy to work with, this grout does not contain Portland cement, so it does not develop efflorescence. It has the same advantages as the H40 Gel-Adhesives, allowing you to mix it to your desired consistency and not drying out in the bucket.
