BAL, a market leader of full tiling solutions, unveiled two revolutionary products in 2025 designed to simplify installations, reduce costs, and improve performance on-site: BAL AF Max and BAL Level Plus, says the company.
These new solutions are said to offer ‘unparalleled flexibility and efficiency’ for tilers and contractors working across a wide range of substrates and site conditions.
BAL AF Max – Adhesive and uncoupling in one
BAL AF Max is a highly flexible rubber-crumb adhesive that eliminates the need for traditional uncoupling mats. Engineered with anti-fracture technology, it absorbs lateral stress movement from the floor, protecting tiles from cracking and failure, says BAL.
It adds: ‘This innovation streamlines the installation process. Fixers can simply mix, and fix – no additional products required. With a high yield of up to 8.5sq m per bag, BAL AF Max significantly reduces material usage. For a typical 30sq m installation, only four bags are needed, compared to 12 bags of adhesive and a 30m roll of uncoupling mat in traditional systems.’
BAL estimates that using AF Max can save approximately 40% in material costs, 70% in time, and 70% in material weight.’
After using the product JK Tiling said: ‘It’s a very smooth and easy to spread product and has saved a minimum of 1.5 days’ worth of time and labour. I cannot believe the coverage and will be using it going forwards.’
Suitable for a wide range of substrates – including concrete, screeds, vinyl tiles, plywood overlays, and even steel – BAL AF Max also supports sustainability goals, says the company. It contains 30% recycled content by weight and removes the need for plastic uncoupling mats.
Backed by BAL’s 25-Year Warranty and supporting the Cool Earth rainforest protection initiative, it’s a win for both performance and the planet.
To support the launch, BAL says it’s also introducing a new large red 30L mixing bucket to help contractors manage larger volumes of mixed material more easily.
Alex Underwood, head of marketing – tiling at BAL, said: ‘This game-changing tile adhesive and uncoupling system in one will radically improve the working life of tile fixers and contractors when installing on backgrounds with movement where uncoupling systems are usually required.’
BAL Level Plus – Choose the performance you need
BAL Level Plus, described by the company as a versatile rapid-setting smoothing and levelling compound, can be used as either a 1-part or 2-part mix, depending on site requirements.
Used with water, it’s said to provide ‘excellent all-round performance’ for standard substrates such as concrete, screeds, and tile adhesive residues.
For more challenging conditions – like bitumen, asphalt, underfloor heating, or vinyl tiles – contractors can mix BAL Level Plus with BAL Level Plus Liquid latex for enhanced moisture tolerance and superior performance, says BAL.

The company adds: ‘BAL Level Plus offers a long pot life of 25 minutes and allows tiling in as little as two hours, helping fast-track project completion. It can be applied from 2mm to 12mm depth (up to 30mm with aggregate), and its self-healing properties ensure a super-flat surface ideal for tiling.’
