On 4th February, the Small Size brand from l’Alcora, Castellón, Spain, was awarded the Som Ceràmica Prize 2020 for Ceramic Product Innovation in urban applications, for its range of high performance, small format, porcelain pavement tiles.
The prize, awarded annually by Diputación Castellón, aims to incentivise R&D into new products, and promotes the use of ceramics in urban areas.
Small Size won for its new generation of 20mm thick porcelain flooring in small formats that offer exceptionally high resistance to impact, wear, breakage, and stains; plus being anti-slip, sustainable, resistant to abrupt changes of temperature, low maintenance, easy to install, and timeless.
The 20mm thickness and small format give each individual piece immense strength which then multiplies exponentially when correctly installed, guaranteeing that Small Size tiles can be used in any space where there is pedestrian, vehicle or, indeed, industrial traffic. This pavement solution is recommended for a wide variety of project types, from shopping centres to high traffic areas, interior flooring, roadside pavements, gardens, industrial areas of any type, summer or winter sports facilities, and absolutely any kind of urban architecture.
