Bradfords Building Supplies acquires Archmartin Ltd - Solo Building Supplies

September 2018

Solo Building Supplies, the trading name of Archmartin Ltd, a highly respected business operating from one site in Penzance, South West Cornwall, has been acquired by Bradfords Building Supplies.  This acquisition improves Bradfords’ branch coverage in the area and provides an opportunity to serve other nearby towns.

Solo has been trading for almost 10 years and is a general builder’s merchant specialising in building materials, timber, landscaping, and plumbing and heating products, with the added benefit of a bathroom and tile showroom in a separate adjacent building on the same site.

David Young, Bradfords Building Supplies’ Managing Director, said ‘I am delighted to welcome Solo into the Bradfords family.  The two businesses are a great fit.  Bradfords will benefit from Solo’s geographic location, customer base and expertise whilst Solo will be able to grow and develop its potential as part of a bigger business.

Solo becomes the 43rd branch in the Bradfords Building Supplies network and marks another significant step in the company’s ambitious growth plans.”

Bradfords Building Supplies is one of the largest independent builders’ merchants in the UK and has been supplying materials to the trade for more 200 years. It has 43 branches throughout the South West, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. The company employs more than 600 people and stocks over 16,000 products. There are nine Kitchen and Bathroom showrooms and 20 Tool Hire branches within the network.
