Build quality essential to bathroom success

Build quality essential to bathroom success

February 2018

The bathroom is one of the most hardworking areas in any property and, for it to be trouble free, the quality of the ‘build’ is just as important as the aesthetic features that immediately catch the eye. The Elements range from Abacus is designed with this in mind and ensures tried and tested wetroom solutions that are versatile and easily fitted, yet provide long term performance.

While Abacus offers a comprehensive range of bathroom products, including sanitaryware, brassware and furniture, Elements enables the bathroom designer and installer to make the basics of the bathroom work with complete peace of mind. The range includes tileable wet floor and wall board systems as well as shower tray kits and seating.

Correct design and installation of all bathrooms is essential to ensure long term, leak-free performance. As well as offering high quality training for installers, Abacus has a dedicated YouTube Channel that provides a multitude of clever tips for the designer and installer to ensure that design and fitting are problem free and the bathroom lasts for years to come.

Elements is proven in aggressive environments, including commercial steam rooms. The three-layer construction includes a waterproof foam with special polymer cements which has excellent insulation properties.

This not only prevents water penetration but minimises condensation. The product is highly versatile and the wall and floor boards may easily be cut to size on site. They are then bonded with adhesive and the joints sealed and taped to allow for movement, creating a totally waterproof, ‘tanked’ solution. Tiles are easily applied to the surface and, with the boards able to support a greater weight of tiles than plasterboard, long lasting adhesion is not a problem.
