Committed to real customer care

Ionic Stone

TSJ profiles Ionic Stone, now firmly established as one of the UK’s leading suppliers of high quality, value-for-money calibrated natural stone.

Many companies identify good customer service and value for money as key business drivers.  However, few convey a tangible level of commitment to these business principles to match that of Ionic Stone’s Managing Director, Gunay Veli.

Mr Veli passionately believes in offering consistency in both product quality and customer service.  He has defined Ionic’s mission as providing covering solutions to customers by offering real value-for-money products manufactured with the standards that are at the forefront of production technology and innovation; coupled with excellent customer service that is always responsive and caring to customer needs and wants.

Ionic’s vision is to be the most preferred choice by customers, and, at the same time, to develop the most advanced and innovative production methods in order to increase the level of quality required and to reduce the associating cost.

“We offer no quibble refunds if the product quality is wrong,” explains Mr Veli.  “We pride ourselves on offering delivery on time to the agreed schedule.  We also passionately believe in offering value for money, not discounts.  Customers can always find cheaper sources, but we believe that, when it comes to offering consistent, high quality, stone products, we lead the pack.”

“Our customers know that we will stand by them, and that we will step in smartly if something goes wrong.  If it’s our fault, we’ll replace the stone straight away.  That’s when you become a good company.”

Ionic Stone underlined its long term commitment to the market when it invested in a purpose-designed factory in Turkey.  This allows it to leverage its knowledge of Turkish quarries to offer first quality stone slabs and large format tiles; supporting its UK customers with extensive stock holding in 1 by 1m slabs as well as other popular formats like 600 by 600mm and 600 by 900mm.

This customer-focused ethos has borne fruit.  Founded in 2001, Ionic Stone is now firmly established as one of the largest natural stone distributors in the UK.  Ionic Stone offers an extensive portfolio of calibrated stone tiles ranging from marble and slate through to limestone and mosaics.  In the trade, Ionic Stone is renowned as a travertine and marble specialist with most of the company’s products in these two stone categories being manufactured in house.

The company’s customer base ranges from independent tile shops through to national retail chains, and includes large construction companies.

As well as an extensive range of large format tiles, Ionic provides a bespoke cutting service, so that customers can obtain the specific format required for an individual project.

Based in St Albans, Ionic Stone holds around 80,000 sq. metres of natural stone in stock at any time.  Continuity of supply is further assured by the company’s integrated procurement policy.  For some years it has enjoyed the benefit of sourcing travertine from its own quarries.  The new Turkish production facility can process travertine and marble from its own quarries, or slabs sourced from other quarries.

This sourcing model allows the company to benefit from economies of scale, which are passed on to the 700-strong customer base in the form of highly competitive prices.

As well as a constantly evolving product portfolio, which now features VitrA adhesives, quartz, slate mosaics and cladding, a premium selection of crema marfil and silver moon marble, Ionic Stone prides itself on rapid distribution nationwide.

The company’s experienced staff also boasts in-depth knowledge of both the products in the portfolio and correct installation procedures: a source of great reassurance for customers.

Both printed and on-line PDF catalogues are readily available, while retailers/resellers can also call upon Ionic for attractive FOC displays to maximize impact in the showroom.

With a broad stone portfolio, complemented by a wide selection of mosaics, borders, sealers and its own imported stock of high quality VitrA adhesives and grouts,  it is easy to see why Ionic Stone has become such a significant player in the UK market.
