Tilemaster and V-TA Tiling fixes new ceramic floor at Blakes Hotel

A range of Tilemaster products have been used by V-TA Architectural Tiling at Blakes Hotel in London’s Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

The project included installation of a new Moroccan-style ceramic terrace at the rear of the Couture hotel.  The Solus Ceramics’ tiles used form part of the vibrant Courtyard Garden, designed by Matthew Williamson, which is nestled between the hotel and its muse house.   They were fixed into place using levelling, adhesive and grout products from Tilemaster’s collection.

Situated within a terrace of grand Victorian townhouses, Blakes is a five-star upscaled boutique hotel designed by Anouska Hempel.  The newly designed Courtyard Garden provides a year-round tranquil retreat with a bohemian feel.  It includes a refreshed domed birdcage conservatory, with an antique gold exterior and features lush planting – by Harris Murray-Wicks Studio – within a kaleidoscope of colour.

During the project, John Simons at V-TA acid-cleaned existing stone before preparing the surface and fixing the Solus Ceramic tiles using four Tilemaster products.  These included flexible primer and bonding agent, Prime Plus, before the surface was leveled with rapid-setting screed, Pro Flow.  Tiles were then fixed with Rapid Setaflex – a flexible, fast-setting adhesive – and frost-proof Grout 3000.

Speed on the track and on the job for Tilemaster winner, Eclipse Flooring

Darren Ewing from Eclipse Flooring was the lucky winner of Tilemaster’s Track Day prize draw at the recent Harrogate Flooring Show 2016.

Based in Wallasey, Eclipse Flooring covers Liverpool, Wirral and the surrounding areas.  Ewing and partner, Paul Pinder, specialise in LVT installations but also supply and fit a wide range of other flooring products in the domestic and contract sectors.

A big fan of Tilemaster’s self-levelling products, Ewing buys through Lee Floorstok and Pennine Flooring.  He was delighted to win the prize draw, whilst visiting the Tilemaster team during the industry event.

“I’m over the moon about winning the driving experience; driving a supercar is something on my ‘bucket list’.  It was a great thing to share with the Tilemaster team; I’ve been using their screeding compounds over the last few years and really like the way they keep updating their range to deal with any type of subfloor.  We do a lot of LVT work, which takes plenty of preparation to achieve a perfect finish. Screeds like Fine Flow 3000 come into their own, to get that ‘glass finish’ subfloor. We also fit a lot of wood and laminate, so Rapid Level 30 is handy to level uneven subfloors and then we’re able to start installing after 90 minutes.  My favourite new product is LevelFlex because of its versatility and suitability for wood installations, up to depths of 50mm,” explains Ewing.

“We’ve got a unit in Moreton in the Wirral now and have been selling some Tilemaster products to local builders, and giving them advice and tips on how to get the best out of the screeds,” adds Ewing.  “We’re big fans and, with new products coming soon, we’re looking forward to a good 2017 with Tilemaster.”

Fast, waterproof solution with Tilemaster Tanking System

Tilemaster’s Tanking System offers an advanced waterproofing barrier for areas exposed to damp and water, including wet rooms and swimming pools.  The ready-to-use sealing system is designed to prepare and seal substrates – from plaster board to concrete block – ahead of ceramic, porcelain and stone installation.  Its flexible composition gives a fast, easy application, internally and externally, and tiles can be fixed after four hours.

Based on co-polymer technology, Tilemaster’s Tanking System comprises a pre-mixed waterproofing paste that is reinforced with fleece tape and preformed corner tapes.  All kit contents are also available individually.  Upon application, the system stabilises water-sensitive substrates and provides a waterproof seal in both damp and submerged environments.  A flexible composition also makes the system suitable for use with underfloor heating systems and in areas subject to light movement/vibration.

All Tilemaster preparation products are offered alongside a comprehensive range of adhesives and grouts, with expert advice and customer support provided by Tilemaster’s hands-on UK team.
