Mapei presents new grout colours

51 grout colours were unveiled by Mapei at Cersaie 2016.  The new range of colours, called Set the mood, is divided into five collections –  Serene, Traditional, Natural, Romance and Glamour – making it easier to choose the right grout according to the requirements of each tiling project and personal preferences.

Innovation through Research & Development is always at the forefront of Mapei’s philosophy; the recent additions to the Coloured Grouts range were developed using a sophisticated 3D imaging programme.  With the latest tile design trends in mind, Mapei is the first company operating in the ceramic sector using 3D imaging to study and develop the Coloured Grouts portfolio.

This cutting edge research has enabled Mapei to develop a new colour chart comprising five coloured grout collections, each with its own unique personality.  With 16 different products available in 51 shades, the collections help simplify the search for the best results, ensuring complete client satisfaction.

With the latest design choices in mind, Mapei’s Kerapoxy CQ coloured grout in shade 183 Lime Green is a matching shade with the Pantone Greenery colour, perfect for refurbishment projects and new installations alike in residential and commercial buildings.

Greenery, Pantone’s Colour of the Year, is evocative of new beginnings.  Pantone invites consumers to “immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.”  Mapei’s Kerapoxy CQ grout is a two-component epoxy grout, easy to apply and with excellent cleanability due to innovative BioBlock technology.

Whether you prefer complementing your tiles with a harmonised or a contrasting coloured grout, Mapei’s Coloured Grout Collection adds a special finishing touch to any tiled surface.

Mapei‘s firm foundations assist Gatwick upgrade

Mapei UK has recently helped complete a flooring refurbishment project in Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal Departure area costing approximately £2 million. DMC Contracts carried out the installation, to deliver a robust flooring system that can tolerate the demands of a busy airport terminal.

Gatwick Airport required a screed that could endure a high volume of daily footfall.  Mapei specified a screed containing the Topcem binder, also including Mapefibre NS12 polypropylene fibres, to replace up to 9,000 sq. metres of the flooring in the North Terminal Departure area.

Topcem, which carries an EC1 rating, produces a perfect screed to use prior to the installation of any flooring where rapid drying is required.  It allows light foot traffic after just 12 hours, ensuring that the airport experienced minimal disruption. Mapefibre NS12 helps to create a strong matrix within the screed which is more resistant to the stresses induced by the setting and hardening process. Once laid, the floor was left for 28 days before it was drop-hammer tested, where it received a Category A rating.

400 by 400mm porcelain tiles and 600 by 300mm conglomerate tiles were then laid with Mapei’s grey coloured Granirapid (which also carries an EC1 rating).  This rapid setting, high strength, flexible tile adhesive is ideal for a busy airport environment. The floor tiles were grouted with Mapei’s popular Ultracolor Plus Grout in a Cement Grey shade.

With Gatwick’s moving over 41 million passengers annually, the airport required an abrasion resistant flooring for some 400 sq. metre of the baggage area floors. Mapei’s Ultratop Industrial was specified because of its excellent abrasion and wear resistance. To prevent staining, the Ultratop Industrial was sealed with one of the products from the Mapefloor  range.

Mapei launches Mapeguard WP 200 thin waterproofing membrane and Mapeguard WP Adhesive

portfolio1

Mapei has launched Mapeguard WP 200, a flexible, thin-layered waterproofing/anti-fracture membrane and Mapeguard WP Adhesive, a two-component reactive adhesive, to its waterproofing and ceramic product lines.

Mapeguard WP 200 is an alkali-resistant, waterproofing and decoupling membrane that is best suited for use under ceramic and natural stone tiles.  It is specially formulated to be used in wet and damp areas which include residential and commercial buildings such as, wetrooms, showers and kitchens.

The product also works as an anti-fracture membrane, which can help prevent cracked tiles caused by lateral movement or thermal stresses. It is ideal for floors and walls.  The non-woven fabric ensures good bond strength of the adhesive between the membrane and the substrate.  Developed in Mapei Italy’s R & D laboratories, Mapeguard WP Adhesive is a rapid-drying elastic cementitious adhesive, ideal for bonding Mapeguard sealing tape to  Mapeguard WP200 membrane.  It can be applied by a brush, roller or trowel on walls and floors ensuring a perfectly watertight seal.

Mapeguard WP 200 is available in 5 and 30m length rolls and is complemented with prefabricated sealing tape, corner pieces and pipe gaskets. The Mapeguard products can be used as part of a complete waterproofing system in compliance with Etag 022.
