The authenticity of marble-effects

The authenticity of marble-effects

March 2019

The authenticity of marble-effects has increased greatly, as has the popularity of these stunning surfaces.  Most finishes are now offered in extra large formats, which minimises the amount of joints required, but presents new challenges.  Tilemaster’s new Magix adhesive offers a number of key benefits, which can help fixers achieve a fast, safe and seamless installation.

Magix has a revolutionary high-yield formulation that gives double the coverage of a traditional sand/cement adhesive.  As a result, it is easier to lift and carry, and lighter when mixed.  This helps the fixer meet substrate weight limits on walls and reduces overall installation weight when working with large formats.   Magix’s longer open time also allows for surfaces to be trowelled out and left before skinning over; ideal when there’s a need to trowel large areas and back butter tiles before placing in situ.

The new adhesive is also quicker and easier to mix, and easier to trowel onto substrates and the back of tiles.  Its exceptional wetting out ability also makes it easier to achieve full coverage and greater bond strengths between the tile and the substrate, particularly when installing large format tiles.

Magix is offered in a rapid and standard setting formulation.  Both formulations are S1 classified, making the adhesive suitable for a wide range of surfaces, including natural stone installations onto solid substrates, as well as substrates with limited movement and/or vibration, including plywood overlay and underfloor heating systems. Magix can be used internally and externally, and is also suitable for areas subjected to prolonged wet conditions, including showers, wet rooms and swimming pools.
